Flickerfest 2025, Australia’s largest and most prestigious short film competition, kicks off in style this January. With over 200 inspiring films handpicked from a record-breaking pool of over 3,400 entries from across the globe, Flickerfest promises to be the perfect summer festival for cinephiles and newcomers alike. Flickerfest 2025 will showcase 24 dedicated festival programmes, including an impressive array of 63 Australian films, 36 International films, and 15 documentaries, all vying for prestigious awards. The festival will also feature 130 short films in its Academy® Qualifying Competitions, including 38 World Premieres, 46 Australian Premieres, and 5 NSW premieres. These films represent the future of cinema, offering a first look at the most outstanding short films from both established and emerging filmmakers.
