New for Riding Mountain National Park
Riding Mountain National Park is an all-season hub for locals and visitors alike. In summer, eat, shop and sunbathe in the charming Clear Lake town site, or hike Gorge Creek or Bald Hill for the most scenic views of the park's backcountry. Nestled in the heart of Wasagaming, the Stowaway Inn has just reopened following extensive renovations. Originally built in the early 1930s, the quirky inn and restaurant is ideally placed for outdoor adventures in Riding Mountain National Park.
For off-grid luxury, the newly opened Turtle Village offers the ultimate glamping experience in beautiful Wasagaming campground. These Indigenous-owned tiny homes, called Turtle Shells, are solar powered and dog friendly, offering the best in off-grid accommodation. Spend your days hiking and biking the national park trails and relax by the fire pit in the evenings, encased in the peace and quiet of endless pristine wilderness.
Elkhorn Resort in Riding Mountain National Park has added another form of hydrotherapy to its popular waterpark and indoor spa. The new Klar So Nordic Spa includes two hot tubs, a temperate pool, cold plunge, dry sauna and steam sauna, as well as relaxation areas.
For impeccable Indigenous hospitality, gather at Winnipeg's newest hotel, the Indigenous-owned Wyndham Garden Ode Akiing, located near Winnipeg's airport. This 132-room property features a unique curved design to signify the circle of life, brilliant original Indigenous art, and Manoomin restaurant (meaning 'wild rice') with a menu focused on regional ingredients.
Explore The Village, the ultimate in prairie farm chic, located at Pineridge Hollow, just outside the capital city, near Birds Hill Provincial Park. This brand new shopping and dining destination offers an outstanding outdoor plaza with boutiques like Teekca's and The Faded Barn. An on-site farmers' market brings in bounty from nearby farms, with future plans including an on-site spa and inn.
One of Canada's most famous buildings, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights is celebrating its 10th anniversary in September 2024. Considered an architectural marvel, constructed from curved steel and glass, the museum features ten interactive galleries dedicated to human rights awareness, with exhibits ranging from Canadian Indigenous experiences to global genocides, all of which inspire wonder, tears, and hope for a better future.
Highlighting the power of music, upcoming exhibition, Beyond the Beat: Music of Resistance and Change is set to be a significant focus of the museum's anniversary year.
