VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh: Vietnam is a premium destination for Indian and Middle Eastern wedding and event industry

On 3rd July, at Vinpearl Resort & Spa Phú Quốc (Kien Giang Province), Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Chairman of Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) attended and spoke at the Ceremony for 10th Anniversary of the Event Management Welfare Federation (EMF Global) of India and EMF ACE Global Convention & Awards 2023.

The event has the presence and speech of many famous and influential figures of India such as: Prince Shri Lakshyaraj Singh of Mewar in Udaipur & Executive Director-HRH Group; Dr. Jaydeep Mehta, Founder President, EMF Global; Vice President, EMF Global Rajesh Ravani; Honorary Secretary, EMF Global Dipesh Sheth; along with many famous Bollywood actors, costume designers, fashion stylists, writers, poets, singers, musicians... of India; and a large number of businesses, units and organisations in the event and wedding industry.

“Big Potato” in the Indian event, weddings industry choose Vietnam as the venue to celebrate their 10th anniversary

EMF Global is the apex body of the event industry that represents more than 500 small, medium and big event management companies from all over India. According to recent studies, there will be about 1.2 to 1.5 million visitor arrivals from India using the services of conference, wedding destination and the spending level for this group of tourism products could exceed $1.5 billion.

Acknowledge the great development potential of Vietnam tourism in the Indian market in general and conference and wedding tourism in particular, especially in the context of the frequency of direct flights connecting major cities of Vietnam and India has been about 10 times higher than the level before the Covid-19 pandemic, with the connection of the Vietnamese Embassy in India, EMF Global has chosen Vietnam as the destination for the 10th anniversary celebrating of EMF Global. The event aims to promote the destination of Vietnam in general and Phu Quoc in particular to Indian wedding and event organisers on a large scale, creating a strong attraction for Vietnamese tourism in this market.

Dr. Jaydeep Mehta, Founder President, EMF Global stated, ACE [Awards, Convention and Exhibition] is the annual flagship event of EMF that acts as a strategic global platform for the members to network and achieve the objectives of EMF. The event witnesses an inspiring convention, a mega exhibition; and a grand awards ceremony in order to recognize members performing extraordinarily. The grand celebrations of these next generation event managers & leaders are joined by the crème-de- la crème of the business world, influential socialites, leading bureaucrats, eminent personalities from the political and film community of India.

In order to strengthen ties with Destination Vietnam, Dr. Jaydeep Mehta hopes that EMF ACE 2023 shall narrate stories of companies across the event industry who have been leading the baton with their focused approach and sharp insights. This year’s edition is set to be special, emphasised the Founder President, EMF Global. It shall act as a conducive platform to further transform the industry that has immensely suffered due to the global pandemic. Moreover, it would introduce the Indian event fraternity to the most luxurious chain of hotels in Vietnam. The convention carries immense scope to act as a launching pad for Phu Quoc city and Kien Giang province, thereby also attracting opulent weddings and grand MICE events to the selected property.

Increasing development of event and wedding tourism, bringing Vietnam - India tourism cooperation to a new height

Giving his remarks at the Opening Ceremony, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh affirmed that the 10th anniversary of the establishment of EMF held in Vietnam will contribute to promoting the development of tourism cooperation between Vietnam and India in general and the type of event and wedding tourism between tourists of the two countries in particular.

Tourism between Vietnam and India is soon established a bilateral cooperative relationship on the basis of a close and solid diplomatic relationship that has been built and nurtured by the leaders of the two countries for many years. Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (precursor Vietnam National Authority of Tourism) and the Ministry of Tourism of India signed a Tourism Cooperation Agreement in 2001. By 2012, within the framework of ASEAN - India cooperation, the Tourism Ministers of ASEAN countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation with the Minister of Tourism of India.

In the first 6 months of 2023, Vietnam tourism welcomed nearly 5.6 million international visitor arrivals. The Indian market has a strong growth with more than 141,000 visitor arrivals, ranking the 10th among the leading source markets of Vietnam tourism.

With rich natural resources, many beautiful beaches, warm sunny climate all year round​, natural endowed products, developed infrastructure, convenient direct flights, simple entry and exit procedures, warm and hospitable people… Vietnam is a rising destination for Indian tourists, especially event and wedding tourism. Not only in Phu Quoc, many other famous landmarks of Vietnam such as Nha Trang, Da Nang, Ha Long, Hoi An,... are all ideal destinations for Indian tourists.

“Vietnam tourism considers India as the potential market and is necessary to enhance promotional activities to attract visitors”, emphasised VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh. These have been shown in the strongly developed air connection, airlines such as Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air of Vietnam and Indigo of India have opened many flight routes connecting the cities of Ha Noi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc of Vietnam with New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata of India, creating great advantages in promoting tourist exchange between India and Vietnam.

VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh informed that Vietnam National Assembly approved extending e-visas from 30 to 90 days, valid for multiple entry to meet the demands of international visitors; Citizens of countries that are unilaterally exempted from visas by Vietnam will be granted temporary residence for 45 days (up from 15 days) and can be considered for visa issuance and temporary residence extension according to regulations, this policy comes to effect from 15th August 2023. In addition, the Government is also considering expanding the unilateral visa exemption to attract international visitors to Vietnam.

This celebration will be an opportunity to connect tourism businesses of the two countries, help promote and widely share images and potentials of Vietnam tourism, promote tourism cooperation, enhance exchange of tourists between the two countries. In 2023 and the following years, VNAT will have plans to organise Roadshow to introduce Vietnam tourism in India, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh hopes to receive support and participation of the members of EMF Global to make the bilateral tourism cooperation developed.
