The Migrant Festival, produced by the Ikon gallery, is an annual free annual event celebrating Birmingham, UK, as a city of migration, sanctuary and refuge.
This year’s festival features projects by Birmingham photographers Vanley Burke, Ayesha Jones and Maryam Wahid, who are collaborating with inner-city communities to share stories of migration.
The festival also includes artists’ talks, music events by Celebrating Sanctuary Birmingham and a family workshop. It was founded in 1965 as an artists-led alternative space and has evolved into one of the most internationalist artistic European programmes in combining established with emerging artists.
