InterContinental Sydney extends its $120 million transformation with the introduction of three new-look Premium Suites

The Governor Opera Suite
InterContinental Sydney has enhanced its $120 million renovation with the unveiling of three new premium suites, which include the Presidential Opera Suite, Royal Opera Suite and Governor Opera Suite.

The hotel’s top-tier suites have returned to inventory after being thoughtfully rewritten by Woods Bagot, the architecture studio behind InterContinental Sydney’s once in a generation redesign. The reimagined signature spaces continue the hotel’s refreshed design narrative by featuring blue and green hues throughout, inspired by the property’s superior location on Sydney Harbour and adjacent to the Sydney Royal Botanic Garden.

The unveiling of the Premium Suite Collection follows the relaunch of InterContinental Sydney in October 2022, which introduced the hotel’s new sophisticated design after over 40 years in operation.

The Presidential Opera Suite

Located on level 29 and boasting panoramic views from every room, InterContinental Sydney’s Presidential Opera Suite is a sanctuary in the sky and the pinnacle of luxury. Newly appointed to deliver an opulent yet comfortable home away from home, this grand suite offers a separate lounge room, large dining and entertaining area seating 14 guests, kitchen with butlers’ entry, workspace and master bedroom set across an expansive 245m². The window-side circular bathtub overlooks the Eastern harbour and Sydney Royal Botanic Garden and stands as the hero of the grand bathroom and dressing room, whilst the outdoor terrace offers private views of the Sydney Opera House and beyond.

Additional comforts include a cloakroom and separate powder room, state-of-the-art Japanese toilets, baby grand piano, and a double shower.

The Royal Opera Suite

Delivering refined comfort 30 floors above Sydney, the Royal Opera Suite offers exquisite outlooks to the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. Fine furnishings, a dining space and a central lounge, form a distinctive experience and gathering space set across 150 m². Guests benefit from a walk-in wardrobe, separate bath and shower, kitchenette and Japanese toilets.

The Governor Opera Suite

This 105m² corner suite residence boasts unique vantage points of the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge and city. Perfectly situated on the western side of the hotel, this spacious suite is brimming with tailored touches that create a refined home away from home. It features open plan living, study and dining spaces resting against a dazzling backdrop of Sydney Harbour, alongside a private bedroom, dedicated workspace and Japanese toilets.

InterContinental Sydney’s Premium Suite guests will also enjoy access to the hotel’s recently refurbished and relocated Club InterContinental lounge on level 31. The new lounge offers panoramic vistas of Sydney Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney Harbour and the Sydney Opera House and guests are treated to a variety of world-class experiences, commencing the day with an exclusive breakfast on Level 32 and enjoying the elite new space on level 31 thereafter with a refined culinary offering.

Led by General Manager, Jennifer Brown, InterContinental Sydney has significantly elevated the guest experience but continues to offer the same trusted, personal and attuned service the brand and hotel is renowned for.

“The redesigned Premium Suites capture the essence of what InterContinental Sydney’s new chapter embodies. Here, our elite travellers can experience the hotel’s rich history in contemporary comfort, enjoy unparalleled views across Sydney’s expansive and natural green and blue spaces, and immerse themselves in immense luxury,” said Brown.

She continued, “Our much-loved and storied heritage hotel continues to offer all of the fine features and connections our treasured guests know and value, but at a more refined, modern and sophisticated level than ever before.”

Located in Sydney’s Treasury building of 1851, InterContinental Sydney’s $120 million transformation includes the redesign of the hotel’s 509 generously sized guestrooms and suites, public spaces, wellness areas, club lounge, restaurants and bars.
