Ba Ria - Vung Tau: Inaugurated the Con Dao passenger port project to promote tourism and service development

The project of Con Dao passenger ship port was adjusted by the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in Decision No. 2769/QD-UBND dated September 14, 2020 with a total investment of 158 billion VND.

The project was started in August 2022, completed in early 2023 and put into trial operation in April 2023.

The work is connected to the shore by a wharf, including a bridge (370 m long, 7 m wide) and a jetty (50 m long, 12 m wide). The pier is designed to receive passenger ships carrying 300 people. Functional items include a passenger terminal of 535m2, a port operator of 540m2 and ancillary technical infrastructure works. Con Dao passenger port was allowed to be put into use by the Vietnam Maritime Administration from March 1.

The overall architecture of the building is evaluated aesthetically, not obscuring the view to the sea. The entrance gate and the service block on both sides are designed with soft symmetry, the colors are in harmony with the surrounding landscape, ensuring a unique and beautiful space for the beach in front of Con Son Bay.

Con Dao passenger ship port is located entirely in Con Son Bay, well protected from the wind, convenient for ships to dock even on rough sea days. The port's location right in the center creates favorable conditions for passengers on the journey from the mainland to Con Dao, shortening the distance of nearly 15km from Ben Dam Port to the center of Con Dao.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Le Ngoc Khanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province affirmed that the construction and inauguration of Con Dao passenger port contributes to perfecting the smooth traffic system and promoting development. develop tourism, maritime services, passenger transport, contribute to socio-economic development, and at the same time perform the tasks of ensuring national defense and security, bringing Con Dao closer to the mainland, with all country region.

According to statistics, in the first 6 months of 2023, Con Dao district welcomed 385,765 tourists, reaching 77.58% of the year plan, up 45% over the same period in 2022. Tourism revenue reached nearly VND 1,388 billion, increased by 51.5% over the same period in 2022. The average occupancy rate reached 41.87%, an increase of 6.68% over the same period in 2022.

Con Dao District People's Committee said that the number of visitors to Con Dao for tourism and relaxation increased sharply in the first 6 months of the year thanks to the fact that the locality actively organized the Con Dao Festival with a series of cultural and sports activities on the occasion of April 30; promote the value of the monument after the restoration and restoration; piloting services at Dam Trau beach, night market...
