SIP AND SAVOUR announces new festival at Lake Macquarie

Featuring Birds of Tokyo, Phil Jamieson (Grinspoon) and celebrity chef Geoff Jansz

A 3-day celebration of the Hunter Valley region’s best in food, drink, and live entertainment
31 March – 2 April 2023

Tickets are now on sale for Sip and Savour Lake Macquarie, a brand-new food, drink, arts and entertainment festival showcasing the best of the Hunter Valley region over three days on 31 March-2 April.

Sip and Savour Lake Macquarie follows on from the success of the inaugural Sip and Savour Albury last weekend, where attendees were treated to stellar performances from Kate Miller-Heidke, Lisa Mitchell, Josh Pyke, and Telenova.

Organisers have again secured major live entertainment for the NSW Central Coast event, with indie folk favourite Pierce Brothers, legendary Grinspoon rocker Phil Jamieson and one of Australia’s most iconic contemporary rock bands, Birds of Tokyo, headlining the Mainstage.

Celebrity chef and healthy living advocate Geoff Jansz will take to the Culinary Stage alongside a variety of chefs and restauranteurs from across the region as they share knowledge about cooking with local ingredients. Many of the region’s wine, beer, spirits and local gourmet food producers will also take the opportunity to unveil special product releases, unique collaborations and exciting new recipes over the course of the festival.

For those looking to brush up on their pairing skills, discover the latest in industry trends or test their local trivia knowledge, the Masterclass Stage will host a series of forums and workshops led by industry leaders, while a range of family-friendly activities will run across the weekend to entertain the young (and the young at heart).

Sip and Savour Lake Macquarie is supported through the NSW Government’s Regional Events Acceleration Fund (REAF) and is set to attract thousands of people from all over NSW and interstate to the greater Lake Macquarie/Hunter Valley region, fostering a welcome economic injection into the local hospitality and retail industry.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW Paul Toole said REAF is supporting the growth of existing regional events while attracting new major domestic and international events to regional NSW:

“We are serious about driving investment and tourism in the regions, and the Regional Events Acceleration Fund will see more people choosing regional and rural areas for their holidays, meaning booked out accommodation, full restaurants and cafés, and an overall economic boost for communities like Lake Macquarie.”

“The fund has already supported more than 100 events and attracted an estimated one million visitors to the regions, laying the foundations for a strong recovery across regional NSW,” Mr Toole said.

This will be further enhanced by plans to launch an additional 7-day satellite event program held at venues throughout the broader region.

Festival co-director James Harding said they were honoured to receive assistance from the NSW REAF program, which provided them with an unprecedented opportunity to deliver a world-class, regionally significant event that contributes to the economic and social recovery of regional NSW.

“Our festival celebrates creativity, diversity and all things that make our local regional communities great. The Hunter Valley region is already recognised as one of Australia’s best wine regions and a gourmet getaway.

“We are honoured and excited to have the opportunity to work with and celebrate such talented, creative, and passionate people, who each make a vital contribution to the vibrancy, prosperity and sustainability of our amazing industries, region and state.”

Tickets to Sip and Savour Lake Macquarie are on sale now via sipandsavour.com.au. Individual artist and chef bios are available upon request. More program details will be released soon.
