Country music fans have helped raise an extraordinary $5,100 for Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW (RMHC NNSW) at this year’s Toyota Country Music Festival, Tamworth helping RMHC NNSW continue to support the region’s seriously ill or injured children and their families.
Funds were raised on the ground during the Golden Gig, Sponsored by Macca’s talent competition, with proceeds from all sales at the McDonald’s McCafé Van contributing to the fundraising total.
Diana Grosmann, McDonald’s Market Director for NSW and ACT, said, “McDonald’s has supported Ronald McDonald House Charities for over 40 years, providing essential funding to help them support seriously ill and injured children and their families across Australia.
“With the support of country music fans and the local community, we are incredibly proud to raise over $5,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW at the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
“We would like to thank the local community for supporting Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW and helping them continue their lifechanging work across the region.”
Proceeds raised across the 10-day event will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW, an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing vital programs and accommodation for families with seriously ill or injured children.
Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW operates two Ronald McDonald Houses, one in Newcastle and one in Tamworth to support seriously ill or injured children and their families, while undergoing treatment or surgery in hospital. It also has a Family Retreat in Forster.
Ross Bingham, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW said, “Each year over 400 New England North West families are supported by RMHC NNSW.
“We are most grateful to Maccas and the community for their generosity, which makes this possible. The funds raised will contribute to helping local families who call our Newcastle and Tamworth Ronald McDonald Houses home, so they can be together near the lifesaving treatment their child needs.”
The Golden Gig, Sponsored by Macca’s is a talent search competition dedicated to those 17 years and under. Those who took part in this year’s competition were invited to perform on the Macca’s Stage during the 2023 Toyota Country Music Festival in Tamworth, which ran from 13-22 January.
