The Limi people of the Yi ethnic group

Limi people are a branch of the Yi ethnic group living the rugged mountains of Yongde's towns (townships) of Wumulong, Yalian, Daxueshan towns, and Yun County's Xinfu Town in China. Remaining mysterious, they have a population of about only 26,000.

Because most of the Limis live in the backwaters, they have kept their old tradition on many aspects such as artistic performances, sacrificial ceremonies, costumes, dietary habit and ethnic customs etc.

The pictured in this article were shot in Wumulong Town on a market day which is the best, most rewarding way to explore the Limi people.
