Named “Haohan Qiao” – or “Brave Man’s Bridge” – the glass suspension bridge opened in Shiniuzhai National Geological Park at the end of September.
The bridge is 590 feet above the ground and gives visitors the sense that they’re walking on air.
A recent Los Angeles Times article compares crossing the bridge to scenes from the new movie “The Walk” (about tightrope walker Philippe Petit), but despite any thrills the bridge may provide, its glass panes are 25 times stronger than normal glass and encased in steel, making it completely safe for visitors to traverse and to take in the spectacular views and heart-pumping experience.
In other parts of China and there is a similar experience on a glass walkway in Chongqing that is 5,000 feet above the ground and cantilevered 90 feet over a cliff in a U-shape. There is also the world’s longest and highest glass-bottom bridge is slated to open in Zhangjiajie, China, above the breathtaking vistas of the Wulingyuan scenic area.
