Pikes Peak, the biggest eastern mountain of the Rocky Mountains range, is located within 10 miles west of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Pikes Peak forms a stunning backdrop for Colorado Springs and the Garden of the Gods. At an altitude of 4,300m above sea level, Pikes Peak is the 31st highest peak of Colorado’s 54 peaks.The location of Pikes Peak contributed to its early fame amongst explorers, pioneers and migrants. It became the symbol of the 1859 Gold Rush to Colorado with the slogan ‘Pikes Peak or Bust’. Pikes Peak is now a federally designated National Historic Landmark.

The Canyon De Chelly National Monument was established on 1 April 1931 as a unit of the National Park Service. Located in north-eastern part of Arizona, within the boundaries of Navajo Nation, it reflects one of the longest continuously inhabited landscapes of North America.The monument covers 83,840 acres and encompasses the floors and rims of the three major canyons: De Chelly, Del Muerto and Monument. These canyons were cut by streams with headwaters in the Chuska mountains just to the east of the monument.
