Crème de la crème’s Kyoto Vegetable Cream Puff

Creme de la Creme shop
This Cream Puff shop and café was started on 11th of November in the year Heisei 11 (1999) on exactly 11.11 am by Ishida Roho. It is located near the Imperial Park in Kyoto’s Karasumadori. As the name suggests, the shop specializes in cream puffs, though other sweets are available.

The real pride of this shop, however are their Kyoto Vegetable Cream Puffs. According to the season, 3 to 4 different flavors of cream puff are available, all made with vegetable from Kyoto. For autumn the flavors include Shishigatani Kabocha, a kind of pumpkin from the Sakyo ward in Kyoto which is said to be rich in nutrients, Manganji Togarashi, a kind of mild pepper, Tanba Guri, a special kind of Japanese chestnut usually eaten in autumn, Murasaki Zukin, a black soybean similar to edamame and Kyo no Shiromiso, Kyoto’s sweet, white miso paste which is available all year round. While the idea of vegetable cream puffs may need some getting used to, these cream puffs have just the right amount of sweetness to bring out the gentle flavor of the vegetable.
