Held from Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 3, 2015, the Lost Highway Karuah Bluegrass Music Festival invites musicians, residents and music lovers to hear acoustic music, share ideas, learn new musical skills and enjoy a weekend of performances in a scenic setting.
As well as performances in various local businesses throughout the town, the festival will be held at two outdoor venues, Main Stage in Longworth Park by the Karuah River, and the Dolphin Stage, a unique bamboo yurt which provides an intimate space for audiences to get up close and personal with performers.
A new addition to the annual event in 2014 was 'Pluckers' Paradise', an intimate late-night venue, where audiences can join in jam sessions. The popular venue will be back for 2015.
Artists performing at the 2015 festival include four-time Golden Guitar nominee Bob Corbett and his Roograss Band, Cat Gut – a popular bluegrass trio from Sydney, and Blue Grass Parkway, fresh from their recent US tour. Other artists include Siskin River, the Appalachian Heaven String Band, Buffalo Nickel, The Stetson Family and local favourites Gleny Rae Virus and her Karuah Playboys.
Just 2¼ hours from Sydney CBD, Karuah is a tranquil, riverside country town with a number of accommodation options in walking distance of the festival, including caravan parks and motels. The festival is family-friendly, relaxed and community-run, with a distinct boutique feel. Tickets cost $65 for weekend pass, with children under 16 free.
