More than 130 dolphins call Port Stephens waters their home, with other dolphins sometimes travelling from other areas to 'socialise', giving Port Stephens a reputation as the dolphin-watching capital of Australia. Dolphin watch cruises run throughout the year, with operators reporting an impressive 99% sighting rate.
The Worimi Conservation Lands protect the largest continuous mobile coastal sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere. Covering an area of more than 2500 hectares and up to 1km wide in areas, the surreal-like sand dune system is slowly moving inland, shifting daily with the winds. Impressive in sheer size and scenery, the 40m-high dunes provide the perfect location for quad biking and sandboarding down the sandy slopes.
The new package offered by Sand Dune Adventures and Moonshadow Cruises includes a one hour quad biking and sandboarding session and a 1½ hour dolphin watch cruise. The two activities can be done in the same day or within a seven-day period. A number of upgrades are also available, including extending quad biking time and switching to a whale-watching cruise. Available for single passengers, families and groups, the deal is valid for bookings made before May 31, 2015.
The package costs from $132 for adults and $76 for children aged 7 – 14 (children under 7 are not permitted).
