- City of Cowboys and Culture Offers Attractions from Cow Camps to Award-winning Performances
Families can travel to Fort Worth, Texas (www.FortWorth.com) during spring and summer to experience special western-themed and cultural offerings at popular city attractions. The “City of Cowboys and Culture” will feature a full roster of events from cow camps with the famed Fort Worth Herd, western-themed offerings on National Day of the American Cowboy, and a performance of Roger + Hammerstein's Cinderella at the Bass Performance Hall. A sampling of upcoming family travel events and activities are below:
Cow Camp, presented by the Fort Worth Herd, allows children and adults to have hands-on, interactive experiences with the equipment used during the Cattle Drive Era. Activities include roping, sorting, saddling, cattle drive demonstrations and chuck wagon stories. Cow Camp is offered Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Weekend through Labor Day Weekend from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Admission is free for all guests. The Frontier Forts Days heritage event taking place May 8-9 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. will transform the Stockyards National Historic District into an authentic representation of Texas frontier life. This two-day event will include fort camps, artillery demonstrations, military parades, Native American exhibitions, live music and more. Admission is free for all guests.

“What's Up, Doc?” is a new traveling exhibition that reveals the creative genius behind some of the most enduringly popular cartoons and animated films of all time. Open for visitors through April 26, the exhibit examines Jones' development as a filmmaker and visual artist and showcases many of his most significant films, which come to life on screens throughout the exhibition. The museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults and $11 for children. The day is filled with activities and contests including watermelon eating, seed-spitting, cow chip throwing, buckaroo coloring and more. Museum Renovations
National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame: May 2015
In May 2015, the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame will unveil the results of renovations of the downstairs level. The museum currently includes interactive exhibit galleries that feature artifacts of the permanent collection, two theaters and the archives house more than 4,000 artifacts and information about more than 750 remarkable women. The National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame is the only museum in the world dedicated to honoring women of the American West who have displayed extraordinary courage and pioneer spirit in their trailblazing efforts.
