Lonely Planet Publishes Two New Guides to Its Number-One Country for 2015: Singapore

Fresh from naming Singapore as the world’s number-one country to visit in 2015, global travel authority Lonely Planet is releasing two new guidebooks devoted to the island this
month

With Singapore celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year, the new editions of Lonely Planet Singapore and Pocket Singapore will ensure travellers get straight to the heart of all that this hot destination has to offer.

Lonely Planet Singapore (10th Edition) gets under the island’s skin. This comprehensive lowdown is packed with maps, highlights, listings and local knowledge. Special features include a guide to local cuisine, shopping tips and a Singlish primer.

Pocket Singapore (4th Edition) is tailored for the traveller stepping out on a short break. It distils essential information and expert local tips into a pocket-friendly format, including maps for every neighbourhood, along with walking tours and day planners.

Lonely Planet author Cristian Bonetto has written both Lonely Planet Singapore (10th Edition) and Pocket Singapore (4th Edition). He describes the island as “a thrilling mash-up of audacious architecture, creativity and contrasts. From art and cocktails in converted barracks to serene temples in the shadow of skyscrapers, Asia's 'It Kid' delivers.”

Last October, Lonely Planet announced that it had chosen Singapore as the world’s number-one country for 2015 in Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2015, the travel media company’s annual agenda-setting collection of the best trends, destinations, journeys and experiences for the year ahead. Singapore tops the book’s list of Top 10 Countries 2015.
