Celebrating 90 Years of Finnair

Finnair is celebrating 90 years of services in the airline industry on 1 November 2013.

This is a significant milestone for the acclaimed carrier which welcomes around 25,000 Australians on board each year via the airline's Asian ports to travel with Finnair to many destinations it services throughout Europe - the most popular including London, Paris, Helsinki, Scandinavia and Baltic regions.

This special occasion also comes in a year in which Finnair, among its numerous world accolades, has been named Best International Airline - Off-Line Carrier in the prestigious AFTA National Travel Industry Awards, celebrating achievements in the Australian travel and tourism industry over the past 12 months. Finnair has been operating an Australian office based in Sydney since 1985. The office is now located in Australia Square Sydney and is represented by Airline Marketing Australia.

Finnair Country Sales Manager - Australia, New Zealand and New Caledonia, Geoff Stone said Finnair continued to draw major business from the Australian market due to "the airline's excellent record for punctuality, on-time performance, safety record and value for money price point".

"We acknowledge the tremendous support of our industry partners in Australia in promoting Finnair," Mr Stone said.

"We have enjoyed a great relationship over many years with all the major agency groups and our corporate partners and look forward to working with them into the future as we introduce our new offerings, including the arrival of the Airbus A350s in 2015," Mr Stone said.

"Also into the future we will be continuing our strategy to expand into Asia and provide more daily connections with our oneworld partners."

Finnair has a special partnership with Finnish design company, Marimekko, which is renowned for its wonderful prints and colourful designs, and can be seen on the livery of one Finnair Airbus A340 and featured on tableware and other fabric designs as part of the in-flight service on its aircraft.

"Finnair is one of the five oldest airlines in the world and with that has come many years of traditional personal service and the comfortable and safe delivery of our passengers to their destination," Mr Stone said.

"We are proud of our history and will always strive to provide quality and enjoyment when we take to the skies."
