Imagine sharing 18 holes with some of the top female professionals – whether it’s Australia’s most successful golfer Karrie Webb, English legend Laura Davies or any number of top women players from the US, Asia and Australia. For amateur golfers who take part in next year’s Gold Coast Golf Challenge, this dream can become a reality.
Open to male and female club golfers, the Gold Coast Golf Challenge is an exclusive event limited to just 100 golfers. Following rounds on The Pines and The Palms courses at Sanctuary Cove, golfers will be joined by the stars of professional golf for a glamorous presentation dinner under the stars. The top 3 players in each division – 24 players in total – will be awarded a start in the official Volvik RACV Ladies Masters Pro-Am the following day at Royal Pines. Winners will get to choose the pro they partner in the Pro-Am.
Staying at the 5 star InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort, there’s an optional practice round before a welcome reception poolside. Sanctuary Cove is ‘home’ to Adam Scott, and it is where Australia’s first ever US Masters Champion honed his skills. Few golfers would have played The Pines, an exclusive, private course, famous for hosting the world’s richest Skins events with Norman, Nicklaus, Palmer and Player back in the 1980’s.
The Palms was recently re-designed by Ross Watson and boasts some fantastic risk and reward holes. Both courses are presented in magnificent condition year-round and the putting surfaces rival Melbourne’s sandbelt courses.
Hosted by Go Golfing, Australia’s leading organiser of events and tours for club golfers, this event will have all the trappings of a professional tournament. The event package includes 3 nights at InterContinetal Sanctuary Cove Resort, one round on each of The Pines and The Palms courses at Sanctuary Cove including golf carts, welcome reception, gala presentation dinner with the top female professionals as special guests, souvenir Calvin Klein – Ladies Masters golf shirt, dozen Volvik golf balls, a season pass to the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters (6-9 Feb), golf transfers and prizes. In addition, winners of the event get to play in the Volvik RACV Ladies Masters Pro-Am while other entrants have a final round at Links Hope Island. Package price is from $1,195 per person twin share.
