Europe 2012: Visit Italy Stamps Issued

The images of the two historical posters - published by the ENIT in the long ninety-year course of its history - have been published previously by the Italian Post Office in the format of adhesive stamps, on the occasion of a traditional tourism event two years ago.

Two celebration stamps in the series “Europe 2012: visit Italy” have been issued by the The Italian Post Office. The stamps are printed by the Workshop Card Values Institute of the State Mint. One of them will be reproduced on the front cover page of the July issue of the institutional magazine, "ENIT ITALY.”

"Europe has confirmed its role as major area of exchange of travelers, attractions, and production of tourism demand, and only the marked progress from the other continental countries has produced a progressive reduction of its share of the global market of travelers,” Said Paolo Rubino, Director General of ENIT, in the bulletin that accompanies the stamp issue, “But in terms of absolute values, Europe has confirmed itself as a basin of extraordinary strength, both in regard as a tourist-hotel industry, and about the size of domestic tourism, incoming and outgoing.

"As part of an increasingly wide general geographical progress, Italy revived not only its role of a ‘historic’ country that traditionally attracts, for over twenty centuries, all components of a dynamic society of travelers, but also its ability to act as a great primary destination for the tourist demand of the new generations that are expressed by dozens of countries in ... political, socioeconomic, and cultural ways to always produce more compelling motivations and ... favor more tourist mobility."
