The 5 Lands Walk |
Many people enter Marathons and other races requiring much
training, physical fitness and stamina. I prefer the more leisurely stroll. I
have spotted a walk that would suit my fitness (or lack of fitness) level. It
is the 5 Lands Walk, which is a moderately easy walk from MacMasters Beach
to Terrigal celebrating a diverse range of cultures.
The 5 Lands Walk is not a race, nor an extreme bushwalk. It
is a journey through and with the communities of the Central Coast of NSW,
Australia, experiencing the diverse cultural offerings of the communities and
the landscape in which they dwell.
It is 9 kms of free cultural activities, great walking and
beautiful views
The 2011 Walk was a huge success, with over 1,200 people
registered to walk and it is estimated 2,500 actually walked the 5 Lands
Walk. It was estimated that over 9,000 attended at least one part of the
walk.
Hugging the coastline, walkers should keep their eyes peeled
for the northward whale migration.
The 5 Lands Walk |
Enjoy the hospitality of each of the five Lands (beaches)
which is hosted by local ethnic community providing music, entertainment, arts
displays and food.
As there is limited parking available at MacMasters Beach,
it is best to park the car at at Terrigal and take the free shuttle bus to the
start at MacMasters Beach. This leaves between 7am and 5pm. All walkers arriving at Terrigal will be
rewarded with special offers at selected cafe and restaurants.
