Terrigal Wreck Proves Popular With Divers

HMAS Adelaide
It has been one year since divers first explored the scuttled ex-HMAS Adelaide off the coast of Terrigal on the Central Coast of NSW Australia.

The sinking date was on 13th April 2011, and almost 5,000 divers have visited the site since then.

Central Coast Tourism says the numbers prove the dive site has been a success and local businesses are seeing the benefits of increased visitors

The ex HMAS Adelaide wreck is located 1.4 kms from the Skillion at Terrigal and 1.8 kms from Avoca Beach, resting in approximately 32 metres of water.

As a diving wreck and artificial reef, it is proving a popular dive destination and is a boon to tourism for Terrigal & the Central Coast. Divers require a permit and must access the site aboard a boat with a mooring booking. Permits are priced at $18 per diver, per day and moorings are in 2-hour timeslots priced at $80 for casual commercial operators or $60 for club and private bookings. Divers planning to dive with a commercial dive operator are advised to speak to them first, as many operators will arrange permits on your behalf as part of a complete dive experience.
