Golden Gate to Undergo Major Renovation

Present Golden Gate Casino
The oldest casino (founded 1906) in Las Vegas, the Golden Gate, has just announced its first major renovation and expansion plan in 50 years. This original Vegas joint gained notoriety as a hangout for the Rat Pack and for its signature shrimp cocktails.

The intended plans include retention of the property's authentic Vegas vibe and the famous shrimp cocktails, which the property originally marketed as the "Best Tail in Town" in the 1950's. The property has served over 40 million shrimp cocktails during its history.

The expansion will include a 35,000 square foot, five - story luxury tower with 16 suites and two penthouses that will occupy the entire fifth floor. The casino floor will be expanded with a new high - limit gaming pit and will feature dancing dealers. Other features include a new lobby with artifacts from the property's past and a convenient valet parking area within the new tower. Bikini-clad flair bartenders will serve an array of cocktails at one of three bars at the refurbished property. The refurbishment is expected to be completed by July 201

Derek Stevens
CEO Derek Stevens, who also operates the new D Las Vegas Casino Hotel ( formerly Fitzgerald's ), states "This property has been characterized by a unique excitement and mystique from day one, and we can't wait to start the next chapter in this wonderful Las Vegas story."

The Golden Gate facelift continues the extensive ongoing trend of renovations at downtown area properties. The Plaza, El Cortez, Golden Nugget, Binions, and The D ( formerly the Fitz) have all undergone major improvements within the past two years.
