New London Pocket Guide & Smartphone App

LUXE City Guides, the stylish pocket guides famous for their distinctive, hyper-opinionated short and sharp reviews launch the latest edition of LUXE London. Distilled from resident editors and overseen by native Brit publishing editor, Grant Thatcher himself -LUXE London will take you by the hand to explore the city like a local, avoiding all the tourist traps and listing everything you need to know and nothing you don't.

All eyes are focused on London ahead of this year's Olympic and Golden Jubilee celebrations... With her fash-forward foot and tantalising Brit-dish cooking, plus the re-emergence of her neighbourhood 'villages' and artisanal pride breathing fresh life into the Brit-Cap, this city puts the zing into buzz. Stroll on, New Britannia, here is a sneak peek of all the delicious goodies in THE ultimate guide to London...

London has so many good eateries you're spoilt for choice between old school classic dining rooms and chop houses, to molecular tapas pads and tearooms galore. Right now we're loving the Pollen Street Social, Jason Atherton's snazz, relaxed and chic diner/bar that puts the fun and fab back into fine dining. For Ital/American tapas, sassy Spuntino serves up great little plates with a side of raucous and hip, or for some flip-fresh fish, oysters or seafood, try Wright Brothers Soho. Then there's our perennial fave: How do we love The Wolseley, let us count the ways...For breakfast or elevenses, at lunch or brunch, for afternoon tea, pre-theatre, dinner and supper, this carbon and cream marble ultra-glam verve and vibe café-salon of mod Euro classics is always bang on the money.

London
Want to explore London after dark? Direct from trouncing all-comers in Paris, the Experimental Cocktail Club melts silkily onto the London scene with glass after glass of classic reinvention that takes this rare spirits ultra-speakeasy way beyond most of its competitors. If you're looking for a quiet one, sink into the plush velvet wingback chairs at The Coburg Bar and order yourself a stiff one, the unpretentious atmos makes it a great place for a nightcap, or three, whilst the martinis at Dukes Hotel bar are a firm LUXE fave, and believe us, we're hard to please...

Trying to sum up London shopping in a paragraph is like trying to get Reese Witherspoon to show her chichis. Impossible. This city is shopping central, but fret thyself not, we've spent an inordinate amount of time schlepping streets and come up with eight fabulous by-the-hand shopping itineraries and a whole page of men's custom sartorial listings, so you'll be the beau and belle of the ball. If gals want to get frock-ed up in edgy clobber, head to The Village Bicycle in Notting Hill, or check out Wolf & Badger, an innovative concept hosting up and coming designers' individual interiors and custom-made clothing. If something very special is called for, grab a cab to Elizabeth Street to find the divine Hawick - purveyors of the finest cashmere, and what's more, they can even custom knit just for you. We're also loving newly hip Dalston's LN-CC, a hyper-hip, ultra-curated M&F it-label store by appointment only. Darkroom London does divine gifts and home accessories in Holborn, and SHOWstudio on Bond St. is the place to go for unique, provenance, rare and one-off props, items and artefacts from fashion shoots and original prints.

London
There are so many unique and quirky delights to uncover that even Londoners themselves often don't realise what a really amazing city they live in. When you've finished ogling The Queen's Gallery and the joyous Wallace Collection surely you deserve some R&R, so head to Espa Life, this vast, deeply delicious slink-a-dink top to toe-r in the Corinthia Hotel will beautify you inside and out, with holistic treatments and custom programmes that focus on fitness and rehabilitation and even alternative medicine.

Now, where will you be resting your head? Well, have a soft spot for our beloved The Connaught -it's the perfect, seamless blend of old time excellence, immense attention to detail and up to the minute service and style. We're also loving The Zetter Townhouse for a bit of Georgian/country house escapism in a teensy 13 bedroom joy plus spiffing cocktail lounge with great food. The Grazing Goat in Marylebone is a swish and commodious 8-room gastropub inn just steps from Hyde Park with a charming, relaxed vibe. Food is absolute divine.
Now there's plenty more where that came from, we've just given you a taster of what's in LUXE London. Our spiffy guide is not just for visitors, but also essential for locals who want to be clue'ed up in this vast and wonderful city. We separate the wheat from the chaff so you don't waste any time, and get straight to the good stuff!
