Pyrmont Festival of Wine, Food and Art |
Pyrmont has developed a reputation as one of Sydney's fastest growing dining precincts and to celebrate the local business community is dishing up a ten-day smorgasbord of wine, food and art in May.
The Pyrmont Festival of Wine, Food and Art, to be held from 18-27 May 2012, also brings regional flavours to the city as the Mudgee Region's best food and wine is showcased.
The sumptuous program is a partnership between the Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce, the Mudgee Wine and Grape Growers Association and local Pyrmont businesses.
The Festival will include a series of degustation dinners where Pyrmont's top chefs and Mudgee winemakers match food and wine, a long lunch on Jones Bay Wharf, cooking classes, wine appreciation, a wine and
cheese master class, plus art exhibitions.
One of the highlights of the ten-day Festival is the one-day outdoor festival event in award winning Pirrama Park on Sunday 20 May with live entertainment and over 120 wines from the Mudgee Region and gourmet foods for tasting.

The partnership approach places a strong emphasis on economic outcomes for both the local business community and for the Mudgee Region. After the success of the 2011 Festival, Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce President, Lawrence Gibbons, is thrilled to be teaming up with the Mudgee Region again for the 2012 event program.

"The festival provides us with the chance to get people to experience what this area has to offer plus taste some of the best wines from the Mudgee Region. Last year the Festival attracted people from far and wide and this year, we have a few extra surprises in store including a long lunch on Jones Bay Wharf. From romantic boutique dinners to outdoor long lunches for a family the program is shaping up to offer something for everyone's tastes." said Mr Gibbons.
Entry to the one-day Festival event in Pirrama Park on 20 May is free and participants have the chance to sample gourmet foods from the Mudgee Region and view many artworks on sale as part of the Pyrmont Art Prize. Mudgee wine tasting tickets and glasses will be available for purchase at the park on the day.
The Star will host the media and industry Festival launch on Tuesday 15 May. If you are interested in sponsoring this event or in supporting the Pyrmont Art Prize with competition prizes please contact Margot Natoli, as below.
