The anniversary commemorated the day when Saigon–Gia Dinh was officially renamed Ho Chi Minh City on 2 July 1976.

Sixteen Fireworks Displays Light Up the Night

The largest and most spectacular display was launched from the Saigon River Tunnel entrance, where more than 1,000 high-altitude fireworks, 200 low-altitude fireworks and dozens of spectacular pyrotechnic effects created a breathtaking 15-minute display over the city's skyline. Thousands of residents and visitors gathered along the riverfront to witness the colourful celebration reflected across the Saigon River.
The anniversary celebrations extended beyond the city centre. At Bai Sau (Back Beach) in Vung Tau, huge crowds gathered along the coastline, beaches and parklands to enjoy another magnificent high-altitude fireworks display. Meanwhile, New City Central Park in Binh Duong hosted its own spectacular fireworks event, drawing thousands of spectators who joined in celebrating this historic milestone.
Combined with stunning 3D mapping projections on landmark buildings and an exciting programme of cultural performances, the synchronised fireworks created one of the largest and most memorable public celebrations ever staged in southern Vietnam.
