Ikomasanjo Amusement Park

Hop on a cute cable car and enjoy the nature and history of Nara Prefecture. 

Mt. Ikoma has been known since ancient times as a sacred place of training for Shugendo (mountain asceticism). 

The tranquil Hozanji Temple is located halfway up the mountain, offering visitors spectacular views of Nara. It’s easy to have your fill of both nature and history in and around the temple grounds.

 
Also, there’s no need to hike – simply hop in one of the adorable cable cars that have been in operation for more than 100 years. Some are designed in the shape of cats and dogs, creating a great photo opportunity! 

The Ikomasanjo Amusement Park at the very top of the mountain also offers excellent panoramic views of Osaka and Kyoto.
