SUMMER FESTIVAL OF UMBRELLA DANCING!

"Shanshan Festival" is a vibrant summer festival held in Tottori Prefecture's eastern region every mid-August. The name "Shanshan Festival" evokes the bubbling hot springs and ringing bells in Tottori, which is well-known for having 10 popular hot spring towns.

This year, for the first time in four years since the pandemic, the event will be hosted in the Tottori city center.

Many people travel long distances for this festival to enjoy the joyful atmosphere and watch the beautiful celebration along the main street near Tottori Station, which includes amazing performances of traditional "Inaba’s Umbrella Dance" from Tottori's Eastern region.

The dance move is also simple that everyone can easily participate.

At Chizu Bridge, visitors can also borrow free umbrellas and learn the Shanshan Dance from the performers.
