Look no further than Sekizenkan, a ryokan (Japanese-style inn) in Shima Onsen, tucked away amidst the serene mountains in the northwestern part of Gunma Prefecture. With a history dating back to 1691, it is one of the oldest operating onsen ryokan in the country.

Sekizenkan offers different kinds of hot spring baths, including a large indoor Romanesque-style bathing area, open-air baths and private baths. Guests staying overnight have full access to all baths - you can soak to your heart’s content!

Did you know Sekizenkan is rumoured to have served as the model for the bathhouse in the renowned animated film ’Spirited Away’?
