"GAIANA" FESTIVAL: SOAK UP THE FESTIVE ATMOSPHERE WITH THE LOCALS!

"Gaina" means "big" in the dialect of the western Yonago region of Tottori Prefecture.

True to its name, the festival is known for its diverse events such as "mantou" (lantern) displays, taiko drum performances, and parades.

It is a large-scale summer festival that attracts a significant number of local residents every year.

The "mantou" refers to a traditional Japanese performing art where numerous lanterns are attached to long poles and paraded around.

The main highlight of the Gaina Festival is the grand finale featuring a spectacular fireworks display.

In commemoration of its 50th anniversary this year, the festival will showcase approximately 10,000 fireworks, a significant increase from the previous year, painting the Chugoku Sea in a vibrant array of colors
