Have you ever seen a colour-changing crater lake

Okama Crater
Introducing the Okama Crater, located on the summit of Mt Zao which borders Miyagi and Yamagata Prefectures! 

Take a scenic drive along the Zao Echo Line and Zao High Line to the crater, or if you're feeling more adventurous, take on one of the many hiking trails from Zao Onsen (Yamagata side) or Gaga Onsen (Miyagi side).

Travel Tip: The crater is closed over winter due to heavy snowfall.
