Sa Pa, Da Lat and Quang Binh welcome first tourists of New Year 2022

Many localities across the country held ceremonies to welcome the first tourists of New Year 2022.

On the morning of January 1, leaders of Sa Pa Town (Lao Cai) organised a ceremony to welcome the first foreign and domestic guests to Sa Pa Town in New Year 2022.

The first group of guests to Sa Pa included guests from Ukraine and from the coastal city of Hai Phong. They are people who love the land and people of Sa Pa, promising to be a bridge in promoting the tourism image of the peak of Fansipan Mountain – the roof of Indochina – to national and international visitors.

Also, on the first day of the new year, Sa Pa Town organised a ceremony to receive the certificate from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognising the traditional worship painting craft of the Red Dao people as a national intangible cultural heritage. This is an important cultural event, aiming to honour the intangible cultural values of the Red Dao people along with the Sa Pa ethnic community in general .

On the first day of the year on New Year's Day 2022, Da Lat also welcomed more than 60,000 visitors to visit and experience. On the central streets, many tourist areas and cherry blossom spaces near the city have bustling with tourists' footsteps, after a quiet time due to the influence of the COVID-19 epidemic.

According to the People's Committee of Da Lat City, through monitoring the stay registration system, the number of tourists in Da Lat for the New Year holiday exceeds 60,000. Currently, motels, houses with rooms for tourists to rent have reached about 60% capacity; 2-star hotels, tourist villas, and whole houses are at 85-90% capacity; and hotels with 3 stars or more have reached more than 90% capacity.

On the morning of January 1, Quang Binh Department of Tourism coordinated with Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park to welcome the first group of tourists to visit Phong Nha-Ke Bang Natural Heritage.

Accordingly, the group of guests to Phong Nha-Ke Bang in early 2022 are 23 domestic guests and two guests from Australia. The delegation was welcomed by representatives of leaders of Quang Binh Department of Tourism, while Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park Management Board gave welcome flowers, New Year's lucky money, and free visits.

This is one of the series of activities to welcome the new year 2022 of Quang Binh tourism industry to promote propaganda and promote the potential of local tourism to domestic and international tourists.

Quang Binh aims to welcome 2 million visitors in 2022. The event to welcome the first tourist group to Quang Binh has important meaning as the beginning of the determination to restore the tourism activities of Quang Binh – the “kingdom of caves”.
