of travellers for New Year celebration.
Having defined tourism as a spearhead economic sector, which leads other economic industries to develop in a green and sustainable direction, Ninh Binh has built a resolution to develop itself into a tourism center of the northern region and the whole country.

Developing tourism in the new context
In order to revive and step up tourism activities in the year-end months of 2021 and in 2022, the provincial People's Committee has promptly carried out numerous measures to assist and remove difficulties faced by travel firms in an effort to help them revive and develop in the new situation.

In late November 2021, the Vietnam Tourism Association held a national forum themed "Solutions to sustainably recover Vietnam's tourism" which aimed at reducing negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and gradually recover the tourism sector sustainably in the new normal.

Bui Van Manh, Director of the provincial Department of Tourism, said Ninh Binh province has joined in establishing a safe tourism corridor with Hanoi and 12 localities.

Accordingly, the province has increased communications about safe tourism activities; organised tourism promotion and domestic travel stimulus programmes themed "Ninh Binh - A safe, quality and attractive destination"; and connected safe tours with localities which have been well controlled the COVID-19 pandemic.

In order to adapt to developments of COVID-19, the province has paid heed to drawing domestic visitors. It will also open to international visitors coming from countries and territories where the pandemic has been well controlled.

The province has set a target of serving 3.5 million visitors in 2022 and welcoming back foreign visitors from July 2022, striving to earn total revenue of 2 trillion VND, Manh added.

Ninh Binh named in top 10 favourite destinations of travellers for New Year celebration

According to digital travel platform Agoda, the northern province of Ninh Binh was ranked 10th in the list of top favourite destinations of Vietnamese tourists during the New Year holiday.

This is the first time Ninh Binh has been listed in the top ten destinations.

Statistic from Agoda showed that in Vietnam, tourists, especially domestic visitors, prefer 4-5 star hotels in big tourism centers for their New Year 2022 holidays. This proves that the COVID-19 pandemic has boosted people's demand for staycation to ensure safety.

Nguyen Van Minh, Director of the Tourism Promotion Center under the provincial Department of Tourism, said both Vietnamese and foreign tourists want to seek new experiences to welcome the New Year. Well-known cities remain the first choices of tourists, he added.
