What's new in Vancouver?

With Canada now to fully vaccinated travellers, and airlines like Qantas and Air Canada resuming flights in December, the time is right for Aussie travellers to plan their Vancouver urban adventure.

For an adventure with new heights, a new family friendly activity on Cypress Mountain opened with the Eagle Coaster which travels over 1700 metres with 279 metres of vertical drop down the mountainside, suitable for all ages and physical capabilities.

On the accommodation front, the Westin Grand became the Hilton Vancouver Downtown, while in the ever developing hipster Shipyard District the boutique Seaside Hotel has opened on North Vancouver’s revitalised and vibrant waterfront, promising luxury on the frontier of adventure.

In the neighbouring suburb of Richmond, the Versante hotel recently opened. This new luxury property features 100 guestrooms and suites boasting five bold décor themes, evoking a distinct personality. When in Richmond be sure to travel on the Dumpling Trail, a self-guided tour of some of the city’s best dumpling hot spots. This trail was listed amongst CNN Travel’s list of 12 of the world’s most enticing food and drink trails.

The luxurious Shangri-La hotel opened a new restaurant this summer: Miantiao a unique fusion of Italian and Chinese culinary techniques and cultural traditions, transporting guests on a stimulating journey for the senses and the culinary ties that bind both countries.

Alimentara Mexicana opened on Granville Island, offering an expansive, multifaceted concept featuring a licensed dine-in cantina and patio, take-out window, tortilleria, as well as a retail shop with high-quality, locally and internationally sourced artisanal products and provisions.
