"Tokyo Night Bus Cruise" with HOSHINOYA Tokyo

“Tokyo Night Bus Cruise” is a program hosted by HOSHINOYA Tokyo, a Japanese ryokan in Otemachi, Tokyo. The two-story open rooftop bus will travel around Tokyo Station, the National Diet Building, and the Toranomon area, offering 360-degree views and an exhilarating ride through central Tokyo. Another characteristic is that guests can enjoy the beautiful night view of Tokyo from a different point of view. This program was made possible with the cooperation of Hinomaru Motor Co., Ltd. (Headquarter: Tokyo, CEO: Hiroyasu Tomita), which offers the two-story open rooftop bus tour “Skybus Tokyo”.

Background

This program was developed as part of an effort related to microtourism, which is a short trip to a place 1 to 2 hours away from home by car and a way of travel that balances the local economy with minimum impact on the spread of coronavirus. Starting out as a means to provide opportunities to rediscover Tokyo, it is also open to international guests looking for a special night out in Tokyo to discover or rediscover the charms of the city. In collaboration with Hinomaru Motor Co., Ltd. an expert on bus tours, we have developed a special program.

Characteristics of “Tokyo Night Bus Cruise”
1)Open-air two-story bus to avoid the Three Cs
360-degree view of the city from the two-story open rooftop bus allows one to enjoy the surrounding sounds and breeze. It is a private bus available to guests staying at HOSHINOYA Tokyo and will accommodate up to 20 people, where its normal capacity is 50 people so that participants can enjoy the beautiful city scenery to refresh their mind and body while avoiding the Three cs (close contact, confined spaces, and crowded places).

2)Exhilarating drive through the city center
The bus departs from Otemachi and goes through Kasumigaseki where the Imperial Palace and the National Diet Building are located and the dramatically developing Toranomon area towards Tokyo Tower. After that, it stops near Tokyo Tower for about 10 minutes, so that participants can get a close look at the beautiful figure of the illuminated Tokyo Tower. The bus cruise, which takes about an hour for a round trip, offers both the historical scenery of Tokyo and the evolving urban landscape.

3)Discover the charms of Tokyo from a different point of view
The two-story bus offers higher points of view than normal vehicles so views of longer distances can be enjoyed. Guided by a bus attendant who is familiar with the city and history of Tokyo, both residents and visitors can discover and rediscover the charms of the city.
