MCEC Roadmap to Reopening

We’re thrilled to share the news that, following the release of the Victorian Government’s Roadmap: Delivering the National Plan, MCEC is preparing to welcome events from Friday 5 November. This is based on the current projection for Victoria to achieve 80 per cent double dose vaccination, and with that milestone comes the return of indoor events.

We’re once again taking bookings for events beyond 5 November. Initially, this will be with a limit of up to 150 vaccinated attendees at a density cap of 1 person per 4 square metres, with updated capacities to come.

It’s been a long time coming, but we can’t wait to welcome you back to MCEC in person, for extraordinary events that make personal connections.

A word on vaccination
Vaccination is our key to returning to the world of in person meetings that we know and love, while keeping our community safe. The Victorian Government Roadmap indicates that vaccination is a requirement for all public events in the state.

Our team are currently working with the Victorian Government to determine how this will work at MCEC, however our expectation is that anyone attending events at MCEC will have to be vaccinated, as per government guidelines.

Visitors, customers and contractors will need to verify their vaccination status on arrival. We’ll share more on this process as we confirm the details. Alongside this, we are also exploring a vaccination policy for our employees, to help keep each of them safe along with the wider community.

Updating our VenueSafe Plan
While vaccination is a powerful tool in protecting our customers, employees and visitors, it certainly isn’t our only one. We have a range of COVIDSafe practices outlined in our VenueSafe Plan to keep you and your guests safe.

We will continue to use measures such as physical distancing, sanitisation, contactless payment and the latest advice on mask-wearing.

We’re currently in the process of updating our VenueSafe Plan to reflect vaccination requirements, and will keep you informed of changes ahead of our opening. While these changes are happening as we speak, restrictions remain in Melbourne and therefore override the capacities currently outlined in our plan online.

Events held at MCEC under our VenueSafe plan do not need to take any additional action under the Victorian Government Public Events Framework.
