More than 800,000 Condé Nast Traveler readers submitted responses rating their travel experiences across the globe to provide a full snapshot about the places they can’t wait to return to next. The annual Readers’ Choice Awards are the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry. For the 2021 vote, the readers were asked to draw on their happiest travel moments, spotlighting the places that made those magical moments possible, in a show of support for the travel industry.
Located on the edge of a pristine lagoon in the South Malé Atoll, Naladhu is 30 minutes by luxury speedboat from Velana International Airport in Malé. Currently closed for six months for a complete renovation, the intimate resort will relaunch in November with an impressive new look and feel, with the public areas and accommodation being redesigned and the resort’s top suite, the Two Bedroom Pool Residence, reopening with its own 20 metre private beach.
“The team at Naladhu Private Island is both proud and honoured to once again be named the #1 Resort in the Indian Ocean by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler. The Maldives has helped lead the way in opening up safely to international tourism and continues to welcome international travellers to one of the most beautiful destinations on the planet. Naladhu has been a part of the country’s success story during this time and the new product, which we are excited to showcase when Naladhu reopens next month after a full renovation, will further support the amazing service and experience that the team has delivered over recent years, with the resort being internationally recognised as #1 in the Indian Ocean for four of the last five years,” commented Giles Selves, Cluster General Manager.
