Minor Hotels Sweeps Another Big Win With 38 Accolades In 2021 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards

Naladhu Private Island Maldives
Minor Hotels, the parent company behind the Anantara, Avani, Tivoli, NH Collection and Elewana hotel brands, is pleased to announce a total of 38 accolades awarded to its properties worldwide in the 2021 Condé Nast Traveler US and UK Readers’ Choice Awards. The trove of prestigious accolades is a resounding vote of confidence in the group’s ability to lead the sector as it emerges from months of disrupted travel.

A luxury and lifestyle travel magazine, Condé Nast Traveler conducts an annual online survey in which readers rate their travel experiences. The result is the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards, the longest-running and most prestigious recognition of excellence in the travel industry, ranking the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, airlines, airports, and cruise lines in the world.

Leading these great results, two resorts have been named in the overall Top 50 Resorts globally, placing these properties among the most inspirational, trusted and loved hotels in the world. Naladhu Private Island Maldives, the exclusive luxury island resort was voted #4, closely followed by Anantara Chiang Mai Resort in Northern Thailand as #8. Furthermore, two hotels were included in the Top 50 Hotels globally, Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels by Tivoli in Doha as #13 and The Marker Hotel in Dublin ranked #46.

Continuing the top rankings of the world’s most prestigious hotels, the uber-exclusive Naladhu Private Island Maldives was also voted #1 among Top 30 Resorts in the Indian Ocean for the fourth time in five years, while fans of Anantara Chiang Mai Resort helped the serene riverside property retain its #1 ranking in the Top 20 Resorts in Thailand. Other winners for Thailand include the purveyor of the ‘Jungle Bubble’ experience Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort #8, classic Thai luxury Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villa #14, Thai village-inspired Anantara Hua Hin Resort #17 and urban retreat Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort #19.

History-rich boutique sanctuary Avani+ Luang Prabang Hotel was voted #17 in the Top 30 Hotels in Asia, while Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort set amidst a coconut plantation in Sri Lanka made it into the Top 25 Resorts in Asia at #22. Another oceanfront property, Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort overlooking a legendary surf break, moved up two positions and was awarded #6 in the Top 10 Resorts in Indonesia. For the Top 30 Resorts in the Indian Ocean, in addition to the victorious Naladhu Private Island Maldives at #1, the winners include ultimate over water villa experience Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas #8, honeymoon heaven Anantara Veli Maldives Resort #17, cool serenity Niyama Private Islands Maldives #18 and family-friendly Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort #27.

Minor Hotels’ properties had an equally strong showing in the highly-contested Top 10 Resorts in the Middle East category. Anantara Eastern Mangroves Abu Dhabi Hotel shot up the rankings to #2, closely followed by Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort in Oman #4, Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara in the Liwa Desert in the UAE #5, Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort #9 and Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara #10. Additionally, Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels by Tivoli achieved a great result making it high into the Top 20 Hotels in the Middle East at #3.

Condé Nast Traveler readers showed their appreciation for Minor Hotels’ luxury camping experiences by awarding Elewana Lewa Safari Camp and Kifaru House #4, Elewana Sand River Masai Mara and Elephant Pepper Camp #7 and Elewana Elsa's Kopje Meru #8 in the Top 12 Resorts in Kenya leader board. Romantic and enchanting Elewana Tarangire Treetops in Tanzania was recognised #7 of Top 12 Resorts in Africa. The collection of awards was rounded off with The Royal Livingstone Victoria Falls by Anantara claiming #27 in the Top 30 Hotels in Southern Africa.

In Europe, The Marker Hotel, a contemporary landmark in Dublin which will join the Anantara portfolio in 2022, made a spectacular debut at #1 spot in Top 10 Hotels in Ireland. Elsewhere, Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort and Tivoli Marina Vilamoura Algarve Resort both made the cut of Top Resorts in Europe at #15 and #18 respectively. For Top 20 Hotels in Spain and Portugal, the readers’ votes placed Tivoli Palácio de Seteais Sintra Hotel at #13, while NH Collection Roma Fori Imperiali landed #8 for Top 10 Hotels in Rome. The Top 10 Hotels in Amsterdam 2021 list features NH Collection Amsterdam Barbizon Palace at #7 and NH Collection Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky at #8.

“On behalf of our team members who have worked tirelessly to deliver the best travel experiences possible under very trying circumstances, I would like to thank the readers of Condé Nast Traveler for their continuous support,” commented Mr. Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International and CEO of Minor Hotels. “It’s a pleasure and an honour to see our properties, new and established, named among the world’s most iconic hotels and resorts.
