Kojima Jeans Street in Japan

The sleepy port town of Kojima is the birthplace of jeans in Japan.

Kojima Jeans Street has over 30 denim shops – some sporting traditional sliding doors and tatami mats, while some are small modern boutiques – where you can find rare Japanese selvedge denim which is superior due to its tight weave using vintage equipment.

Complete your denim shopping with shirts, skirts, or a customised pair of jeans, all made with natural indigo dyes.

Kojima Jeans Street is more than just a retail experience – even vending machines and buses are wrapped in denim, and everywhere you look, jeans are hung above the alleys and over wooden fences.
