Tourism, which exhibits strong relativity, great impetus, high growth and low resource-consumption, is the sunrise industry of the world. Meanwhile, it is the strategic industry of China and mainstay industry of Yunnan Province.

Yunnan boasts of all kinds of tourism resources except those of marine tourism. Here, the geographical environment is quite complex, climates vary a lot, and the geographical location is also very unique. Besides, the long history and a large number of ethnic groups of Yunnan remain charming to travellers from all over the world.

A marvellous image of Yunnan tourism-"Colourful Yunnan, Tourism Paradise"-has been given birth by the perfect combination of magnificent, captivating landscapes, colourful ethnic customs, long history and wonderful ecological environments etc.

In recent years, by trial and error and continuous practicing since the "Second Start-up" of the tourism industry, Yunnan tourism industry has gained remarkable achievements in a new manner: the development mode has been transformed, both the scale and quality have been escalated, service capacity has been strengthened, and progress has been made for the construction of Yunnan’s 10 Historic and Cultural Tourism Projects.

These achievements should be attributed to the correct leadership of the Central Committee of CPC, the State Council of the P.R.C., Yunnan Provincial CPC Committee, and Yunnan Provincial Government, and to the joint efforts and supports of all-level departments and the tourism circle. On behalf of Yunnan Provincial Tourism Development Committee, I hereby express sincere gratitude.

Today, profound changes are taking place in the entire global tourism market. As the work of China's Western Development Strategy and Constructing China's Southwest Gateway Strategy goes on, more preferential policies appear to be in favour of Yunnan tourism industry--which has been in the critical stage of "transformation and upgrading, quality and efficientising".

In order to make Yunnan a first-class (in China) and world-famous tourist destination, we'll obey the laws of tourism development, strive to develop tourism by means of industries amalgamation, promote the combination of tourism sector and industrialisation, informationisation, urbanisation, and agri-modernisation, promote the extensive application of creativeness and scientific and technological achievements, realise the upgrading of Yunnan tourism products and the industry's functions, build new system and create new industry preparedness.

As the economic globalisation and regional integration deepen, and scientific and technological innovation accelerates, the internet has penetrated our daily life. It's worth mentioning that the internet has remarkably sped up the development of Yunnan's tourism industry.

Yunnan Tourism Website, sponsored by Yunnan Provincial Tourism Development Committee, is the platform to issue tourism policies, laws and stipulations of both Yunnan Province and the country (China). It serves as the window to reflect tourism development trends, and as the channel for exchanging tourism E-government information.

To comply with the requirement of constructing service-oriented governments, our website will provide much richer, more comprehensive and more detailed public information and services including tourism laws, policies, regulations, statistics, industry trends and travel consultation etc.

We hope that our website will become a bridge between Yunnan Provincial Tourism Development Committee and all-level tourism departments of China, domestic and overseas tourism enterprises, tourism personnels, and tourism consumers, offering a better way for the society to know about Yunnan tourism--and also a better way for Yunnan tourism to serve the society.
