New Organic Garden Trail for the region

Visitors and gardening enthusiasts are invited to experience the Margaret River Region's very first Organic Garden Trail. The seven gardens that make up the trail are a fascinating mix of biodynamic, organic and permaculture styles that will indulge your senses and inspire you to experiment at home. Most sites are linked to other concepts such as food, wine, wellbeing, education or community. Entry to the gardens is free, and some also offer specialised guided tours by arrangement, for a small fee. Find out more.

38 seconds of Cape to Cape bliss 

We can't get enough of this short (but epic) video of a hike on the Cape to Cape Track by Australia.com's Jesse Desjardins - Global Manager, Social and Content., who was in the region recently. Voted one of the Top Ten Multi-Day Walks in Australia by Australian Geographic, the track meanders along 135km of divine beaches, karri and marri forest and rocky outcrops, all accompanied by spectacular views. Wildflower season is underway 

Spring is cranking and we're not the only ones enjoying the sunshine. The region's wildflowers have been bursting over the last few weeks and there are many parts of the region carpeted in colour right now. $1.1 million upgrade to Conto campground 

Better visitor facilities are now available for campers at Conto, one of the State's most popular campgrounds, in Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, 20 kilometres south of Margaret River. The recently opened $1.1 million upgrade was funded by the State Government's Royalties for Regions program and includes 29 new camp sites, each with a fire ring and picnic table, as well as new double-cubicle toilets and barbecue shelters, and new and upgraded roads, signage and paths. The work brings the total number of camp sites to 116. Read the media release.

Top gong for David Hohnen, wine industry pioneer

Congratulations to David Hohnen of McHenry Hohnen Wines and the Farm House Margaret River, recently awarded the Perth Wine Press Club Jack Mann Medal at the Perth Royal Wine Show for his contribution to the WA wine industry spanning over 45 years. This is an outstanding achievement for one of the true pioneers of the industry. Read the article.

Gourmet Escape WA's best event

The Margaret River Gourmet Escape has been named WA's best tourism event for the third year. It received the title as part of the shortlisting process for the Australian Event Awards. An independent industry panel completed a first round of judging to determine State prizes and a list of finalists from across Australia. Find out more.

New tour: Cave, Wine and Dine

Margaret River Vintage Wine Tours is offering a new tour which takes visitors to see one of Margaret River's iconic natural wonders - Lake Cave. Margaret River Antiques is a new business located in the heart of Margaret River, presenting a diverse collection of fine antiques comprising of Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian & The Art Deco Period.

Margaret River Chocolate Company has won big at this year's Perth Royal Show - amongst other awards, their new cinnamon truffle secured a first prize trophy and gold medal.

Dianne Laurance, of Laurance Wines, has been announced as a Finalist in the Telstra Business Women's Awards for 'women across all areas of business who have pushed boundaries and achieved excellence'.

A new concrete walkway between Flinders Bay and Augusta Boat Harbour will be completed in time for summer with the Shire of Augusta Margaret River having recently commenced works.

Morries in Margaret River is changing tact, no longer opening for breakfast during the week but with a new focus on lunch, dinner and late night drinks during the week as well as boozy breakfasts on the weekend (Bloody Marys available!)

Harmans Estate is the new name for Margaret River Winemakers. Their cellar door is located on the corner of Harmans Mill Rd and Bussell Hwy and people can taste the Harmans range (includes Moo Cow, Harmans Festival and Harmans Shield).
