WORLD CLASS EVENTS TO TAKE PLACE IN REGIONAL NSW THIS SUMMER

An impressive calendar of major events will be presented across Regional NSW this summer with a total visitor spend of $28 million expected to be generated as a result of 10 major regional events taking place between December 2014 to February 2015.

Minister for Regional Tourism John Barilaro said, “Regional NSW is set to host 10 major events this summer that have been secured or supported by the NSW Government through Destination NSW. These events will take place across the State, from Parkes, to Tamworth, the Snowy Mountains and beyond, and are expected to attract 190,000 people and generate more than $28 million in visitor spend. In addition to this, Destination NSW is forecasting that 26 million international, domestic overnight, and day trip visitors will visit Regional NSW between October 2014 to March 2015, taking in the peak summer period.”

From the quirky to the competitive, the line up this summer will showcase an exciting range of events and entertainment across Regional NSW, ranging from world-class festivals, concerts to international sporting events – appealing to the young and the young at heart.

Highlights of the regional events calendar include the largest multi-sports youth games in the world, the International Children’s Games taking place in Lake Macquarie in December, and one of the world’s leading music festivals, the Tamworth Country Music Festival in January where multi Grammy award winner Kenny Rogers is set to rock Tamworth, along with Golden Guitar winners and Aussie favourites Paul Kelly and Kasey Chambers.
