Chinese visitors to NSW will find applying for a visa easier than ever before, with the commencement of a new pilot program aimed at streamlining the application process through an online system.
Announced by the Australian Government this week, the initiative is aimed at capturing the ever-increasing Chinese tourist market, which is the number one source market for visitors to NSW.
The online visa pilot program joins other measures by the Australian Government to better meet the needs of the Chinese visitor market, including the introduction in February of three-year multiple entry visas for Chinese business travellers and the upcoming trial of SmartGate for Chinese e-Passport holders, which will give visitors from China access to automated border processing systems, fast-tracking their arrival into Australia. Following recent negotiations, Australia will also grant visas for up to 5,000 Chinese work and holiday makers every year.
