Port Macquarie’s Koala Hospital is offering e-adoption of koalas as the perfect Christmas gift. For just $35, you can you can help injured koalas such as gorgeous Zenani who was rescued as a joey in catastrophic bushfires but is too injured to return to the wild.
Zenani, nicknamed Nani, was found with severe burns but still alive near Newcastle after bushfires swept through the area in 2013. After weeks of painful burns treatment her wounds began to heal but Nani had permanent damage to her claws and feet preventing her from climbing trees in the future. Nani is one of hundreds of koalas who have relied on the food, love and shelter at the Koala Hospital to stay alive.
Adoption packages include a certificate of adoption with the koala’s name, a photo of the koala, a short story about its life and an information booklet about koalas.
The Port Macquarie Koala Hospital in NSW is the first and only wildlife hospital solely dedicated to the conservation, protection and care of wild koalas. It is open 7 days a week, 365 days of the year from 8am to 4pm. Entry is free, or with a donation, and there is a daily ‘Walk and Talk Tour’ every afternoon at 3pm.
