In a recent article from Conde Nast Traveler entitled “Top 20 Cities for Tourists,” Shanghai was cited for its affordability compared to other cities on the list, its popularity with business travelers, and its “buzzy art scene.”
The top 20 rankings are based on data from MasterCard’s annual Global Destination Cities Index, which shows what cities are the most popular with tourists.
Shanghai is another up-and-comer on the list, moving up one spot from last year’s ranking.

The Chinese metropolis offers a relative bargain compared to other cities on the list, as it ranks lowest in per-visitor daily spending, just $238.
