Melbourne Airport awarded for innovation and safety at AAA awards

Melbourne Airport has won awards for innovation and safety at the Australian Airports Association National Airport Industry Awards presented at a gala event.

Adding to their Victorian award, Melbourne Airport’s Baggage System Coordinator, Mike New, and BCS Infrastructure’s Senior Operations Manager, Craig Manester, claimed the national award for their innovative integrated baggage belt ‘safety switch’.

The SITA Innovation Award also recognised the innovative and world leading self-service kiosk and automated bag-drop system installed in Melbourne Airport’s international departures check-in area.

Melbourne Airport CEO, Chris Woodruff, said that the awards demonstrate the company’s vision to deliver a superior customer experience.

“We are thrilled to receive these awards, both of which recognise my team’s hard work and commitment to being at the forefront of technological innovation and incorporating it into our operations to give our customers a better experience.”

“Congratulations also to other award winners and nominees who achieved excellence within the Australian airport industry,” said Mr Woodruff.
