Whale watchers and lovers of the great outdoors are encouraged to come to the town of Eden on NSW’s beautiful Sapphire Coast this weekend for the annual Eden Whale Festival.
The Festival will offer a range of fun activities including competitions, events and activities for everyone, not to mention the chance to see nature’s most magnificent mammals up close.
Saturday 1 November is the Eden Whale Festival’s ‘Big Day’ which begins with a street parade in the town centre, with markets, live music, educational marine displays, whale watching and more throughout the day, followed by a fireworks display in the evening.
Timed to coincide with the whale migration along the NSW coast, the festival celebrates the miraculous annual journey of humpbacks and other whales, while showcasing Eden and the splendour that is the Sapphire Coast.
Festival program highlights also include spoon carving workshops, guided tours of the tall ship, HM Bark Endeavour, and guided kayak tours of Twofold Bay. Not to mention a number of artistic displays from photography, to intricate carvings out of unseasoned soft hearted timbers.
Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer, Sandra Chipchase, said: “I encourage visitors and locals alike to make the most of this weekend-long Festival in celebration of marine life, nature and the rich maritime and whaling history of Eden.
“Visitors to the Eden Whale Festival should also take the chance to discover the pioneer and aboriginal history, artisan galleries and stunning natural attractions around Eden and throughout the Sapphire Coast,” she said.
