Melbourne is set to host a spectacular three-dimensional sound and light show which will further enhance Macau’s image as a genuine holiday destination for Australians.
The outdoor showing – to make its overseas debut at Queensbridge Square, Southbank – will be a nightly highlight to Macau Fringe, a FREE six-day festive event to take place from Friday, October 31 until Wednesday November 5. Complementing the colourful sound and light show will be roving entertainment that will have families enthralled each day from noon. For visitors planning a trip to Macau, an information marquee will be set up accompanied by ongoing videos on the former Portuguese enclave.
“It will be an exciting move for us to host Macau Fringe in Melbourne for the first time, For the past three years we have held a successful Macau Festival and accompanying Macau Food Festival in Sydney. Now it will be Melbourne’s turn to find out what makes Macau such a magical destination.”
Helen Wong, general manager of the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO) in Australia
Celebrations for this anniversary will take place in Macau on December 20
The specially created 3-D Projection Mapping of Macau’s historic architecture, to be shown each night from 7.30 to 10.30, has only previously appeared in Macau and mainland China and will be making its overseas debut in Melbourne. Timing for the event will be ideal as it will take place in the lead up to the 15th anniversary of the establishment of Macau as a Special Administrative Region (SAR).
Celebrations for this anniversary will take place in Macau on December 20, highlighted by a colourful and vibrant street parade through the historically rich Asian centre.
