Internationally acclaimed New York production Here Lies Love, is set to wow Sydney audiences as the theatrical centre piece of Vivid Sydney
2015. The Australian premiere, secured by Destination NSW, is also the
first time the show has run outside of the Northern Hemisphere.
Penned by Talking Heads founding member David Byrne and world renowned DJ Fatboy Slim, Here Lies Love will immerse audiences in a remarkable 360-degree scenic and video theatrical experience.
The show retraces the astonishing journey of the Philippines’ First Lady
Imelda Marcos, from her meteoric rise to power to her descent into
infamy after the People Power Revolution.
The world premiere production of Here Lies Love is currently playing at New York’s Public Theater’s LuEsther Hall and opens next month at the National Theatre in London.
New York critics have hailed it as “ingenious” (The New York Times).
Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Andrew Stoner said: “Securing innovative theatrical productions like Here Lies Love,
exclusively for Sydney reaffirms the NSW Government’s commitment to our
State’s creative industries and further cements Sydney’s position as
the live performance capital of Australia.”
“Vivid Sydney 2015, which attracted over 1.43 million people this year, is the perfect Festival to showcase the creativity and innovation of Here Lies Love,” he said.
