The Parramasala 2014 festival program was announced at this week’s festival launch, attended by NSW Premier Mike Baird and Parramatta Mayor John Chedid, at Harris Park in Parramatta.
Now in its fifth year, Parramasala will take place over three days and nights, from Friday 17 October to Sunday 19 October 2014.
The program for this year’s festival will feature a block party, street-hawker style food, dancers, musicians and DJs, as well as two international acts, the Odissi Dance Group and renowned Bharatanatyam dancer, Shobana Balachandra.
Other Parramasala 2014 events include a street Parade and Opening Concert, Big Bollywood Dance school, outdoor stage entertainment at Prince Alfred Square, the South Asian Film Festival, and Masala Markets which boasts 50 stalls of exotic treasures, food and camel rides.
More than 20 nationalities and cultures are represented in Parramasala 2014, including Indian, Sri Lankan, Pakistani, Indigenous Australian, Indonesian, and Vietnamese. Full details of the Parramasala program can be found at: www.parramasala.com
