Sydney and NSW food and wine has been put in the spotlight this week at a pop-up restaurant at Australia House in London. Sydney born chef Skye Gyngell presented a three course meal inspired by her memories of holidaying in Sydney and NSW. Her menu was served with matching NSW wines selected by Justin Knock MW, including Semillon from the Hunter Valley, Orange Shiraz and lush Botrytis Semillon dessert wine from Griffith.
The Restaurant Australia initiative is aimed showcasing Australia as a food and wine destination for international visitors. The UK is an important market, being NSW’s third largest visitor market. The State received 340,000 UK visitors for the year ended June 2014, contributing $679 million in overnight visitor expenditure.
